Thank you to everyone for the phone calls and the show of support over these trying financial times due to the coronavirus. I have had time now to consider how we will financially get through these challenging times, and upon discussion with students and instructors we have come up with the following.
Should anyone be in financially dire consequences, we shall suspend your payments immediately. However, please keep coming to training and when your situation changes we can come to an arrangement. The worst thing to do is to stop the activity you enjoy due to financial restraints, which we can easily get around.
Anyone that has low immunity or is living with family members who have low immunity, or wishes to stop training, please do so. We have a couple of options so we can come to an arrangement.
Option 1
If financially possible, we will continue to direct debit your account and will consider these payments as a loan to the gym. When things go back to normal we shall return what is owed to you, by either:
A: Suspending your account at different months throughout the year, for the same duration of time which we debited for. For example, Student X’s account might be suspended beginning in March, Student Y’s account might be suspended beginning in April, and so forth.
or: –
B: In appreciation for your financial help, you can purchase gi and no-gi uniforms at a discounted price to the value of what we owe you.
Option 2
We can suspend your membership as normal, and when ready we can just reinstate it.
If anyone wishes to discuss anything privately, please feel free to contact me.
Everyone’s support has been great, and most have even strongly argued their desire to keep the direct debits going and not be reimbursed at all. But I do and will consider this a loan, and cannot and will not see it any other way.
I truly appreciate the support and the concern for the financial wellbeing of me and my family. I am overwhelmed with the passion and the impact that we all have on each other’s lives. The gym is open for now, but that can change at a moment’s notice.
Truly from the bottom of my heart, thank you and may God keep you and your loved ones safe during these testing times.
